
Jamie Rotherham
History
Born in Beverley in East Yorkshire, Jamie was educated at Ampleforth
College, North Yorkshire before leaving to study art at Central
St Martins College of Art and Design. In 1998 Jamie went to
study at the Charles Cecil Atelier in Florence, where he learnt
old master oil painting techniques.
Influences
The prime influences on his work begin as early as the 15th
century with Leonardo Da Vinci. Other key influences include
Caravaggio, Rubens, Guido Reni and Rembrandt. Jamie has also
used ideas from 20th Century painters such as Picasso, Kandinsky
and Cezanne.
Motivation
Jamie has been working towards trying to rediscover and reinvent
the use of nature and particularly the human form in large scale
figure paintings.
