David Baumforth
Born in York in 1942. David continually observes
the North Sea and sky, the wild Yorkshire coastline and its
hinterland. His work combines a contemporary viewpoint with
the tradition of the Northern European Romantic Painters, capturing
the elemental power of nature.
He is uncompromising in his pursuit of nature's passion.
He is a nationally and internationally respected painter and
has exhibited widely in both one-man and group shows, including
The Summer Show at The Royal Academy, The Royal Watercolour
Society Open and The Hunting Prizes at The Royal College of
Art. Price winner in the Not the Turner Price 2003.
"The Yorkshire Moors and it's coastline feed
me with images for my pictures, which it has done for the last
ten years. At the present time I feel no need for change."
"Anyone who has an eye for art, the deep
passionate colour of Turner, the pure loving observations of
Constable must rejoice that our century has David Baumforth.
This work is the real thing, wet with sea spray we can feel,
fresh with gusts of wind, always mysterious, always beautiful.
Art to be cherished"
